At Petitpierre, we are actively committed to reducing our energy footprint. With this in mind, we recently carried out an energy audit at our Cortaillod and Boudry sites.

This audit revealed several opportunities for optimization, with a target of reducing our overall energy consumption by more than 15% compared with the 2023 baseline year.
Investment in innovative technologies
One of the first concrete actions resulting from this audit was the installation of a new compressor, replacing the old, less efficient model.
This high-performance equipment not only enables us to reduce our gas consumption for heating our premises, but also our electricity consumption. In fact, the new compressor features an innovative heat recovery system, which redistributes the heat generated by air compression directly into our workshops.
Thanks to this technology, we estimate heating savings of over 27,000 kWh per year, equivalent to 5.5 tonnes of CO2 per year.
Optimized pressure and additional savings
At the same time, we were able to optimize the operating pressure in our compressed air network, reducing it from 1 to 2 bars.
This simple modification generates additional savings of 6,500 kWh per year, an initiative perfectly in line with our desire to limit our environmental impact.
A concrete contribution to the energy transition
Thanks to these actions, we have succeeded in reducing our energy consumption by around 6%. By way of comparison, this represents the equivalent of the average annual consumption of seven Swiss households.
At Petitpierre, we are proud to be able to contribute to a more sustainable future, by limiting our environmental footprint while optimizing our industrial processes.
